Tall Tailz Charters is a premiere fishing charter outfit serving the greater Newport RI area. Our home base is Clark Boat Yard in Jamestown, RI. Here we overlook the east passage and are conveniently tucked behind the historic clingstone “house on the rocks”. Clark Boat Yard is a quiet and traditional yard with plenty of parking, beautiful scenery and a friendly staff.

Jamestown AKA Conanicut Island is Rhode Islands second biggest Island and sits parallel to Aquidneck Island and Narragansett. At only 1.1 miles, Newport harbor is practically a stones throw away. The best part of operating out of Jamestown is the quick access to the fishing grounds. When we push off from the dock were only at “no wake” speed for 1-2 minutes before were up to full speed and underway to the grounds. Operating in a busy harbor like Newport or Point Judith means 15+ minutes at slow “no wake” speeds entering and leaving the harbor. Who want to lose 30+ minutes of their trip just leaving the dock? From the SE side of Jamestown we have an excellent starting point for nearly all RI fishing destinations.

The top of the Providence River is less than 20 miles From Jamestown, which gives us quick and easy access to virtually any point in Narragansett Bay. Since Jamestown is centrally located on RI’s southern coast were also within 8 miles of Sakonnet Point and 8 miles of Point Judith. The entire RI coast is a quick steam away. During the spring most of our fishing is in the Bay, within 20 minutes from the dock. During the middle of summer, we can find fish as close as 5 minutes from the dock. Since we specialize in light tackle fishing for trophy striped bass, we will often take trips to the offshore islands of Block Island and Cuttyhunk to battle these monsters. From Jamestown, we’re exactly 13 miles to Block Island and 18 miles to Cuttyhunk. Beyond the islands lies the nearshore and offshore grounds with endless fishing possibilities. We typically fish for shark and tuna within 50 miles of home.

If we have the weather well head all the way to the NE canyons, roughly 90-110 miles from Jamestown. Here we can catch multiple species of billfish, tuna, sharks and other pelagics. There simply is not a better place to call home for a fishing charter in all of RI than Jamestown. With the quick access to Newport and Narragansett Bay, coastal RI, nearby islands and offshore waters, Jamestown RI is the ultimate pin on the chart.
