Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the best season to go charter fishing?

A: Each season is different and dependent on weather. We start our Rhode Island charter fishing season in April and fish hard through December. The truth is, it’s all good!

Q: How many people can we bring on the boat?

A: Each trip is different. Generally, we can take up to 6 passengers. On some of our near shore and tuna trips, we only take 4.

Q: Do you take people fishing that have very little experience?

A: Of course! We love taking people that are new to the sport. Our goal is to teach and guide our customers so they leave feeling like they’ve learned something.

Q: What kind of gear do you use?

A: We are on team Daiwa pro-staff. We only fish the newest and best Daiwa reels paired with high quality custom rods.

Q: Do you offer any per person options?

A: Normally, no. Each private charter booked is for the entire boat to yourself. However, if we have last minute cancellations or another unique circumstance we will offer a per person option to fill the boat. Occasionally, during fall tautog season we may offer per person options as well. Follow us on facebook and instagram to stay up to date on all of our promotions and special offers.

Q: Do you offer any type of deals or discounts?

A: YES! We always offer a 10% discount to all veterans and active duty military. You can save up to 20% by booking multi-day trips. We run a few promotions throughout the year and frequently donate one or two trips to a deserving charity. Again, follow us on facebook and instagram to stay updated.

Q: What’s your cancellation policy?

A: We require a 48 hour notice prior to cancellation. Any cancellation attempts made within 48 hours will result in a forfeited deposit.

Q: What is your weather policy?

A: We fish rain or shine. The only weather factor that would cancel a trip is high winds. High winds equals high seas and potential for danger. If a customer wants to cancel a trip in progress, for any reason, no refund will be given. If the captain chooses to cancel a trip in progress because of weather and the trip is less than half over a refund of 50% will be given. If a trip is more than halfway over no refund will be given, but a future trip can be booked at 25% OFF.

Q: What should I bring on a fishing charter?

A: Bring enough food based on how long your trip will last. For a quick trip: a few snacks and drinks. For any trip over 4 hours bring a meal or two, plenty of snacks and drinks. Bring non-slip shoes, preferably not black, a wind breaker or sweatshirt, sunscreen, rain gear and a change of clothes. We also recommend bringing a small cooler to bring your filet’s home in. All fishing equipment, bait, tackle, safety and emergency gear, ice and bottled water will be provided.

Q: Is alcohol allowed on a charter?

A: Of course! We want you to have the best time possible. This of course is within reason. Any person that gets overly intoxicated will be brought back to the dock immediately and the trip will be terminated with no refund. Glass bottles are not allowed. The safety of our passengers is ALWAYS top priority.

Q: Can we keep our catch?

A: Yes. As long as the species we’re targeting is in season and meets state and federal regulations. We will bleed, clean and filet your catch right at the dock at the end of our trip.

Q: Is there a bathroom on board?

A: Yes, we have an enclosed head on both our vessels.

Q: Do you have any suggestions or recommendations before our trip?

A: If you’ve ever been seasick or have little experience on the ocean we always recommend taking anti seasickness medication like Dremamine. Show up at least 10 minutes early so the captain can give you a brief safety and vessel orientation. Don’t overpack! Come prepared but don’t go crazy. We can only fit so many people and their belongings while ensuring our safety and efficiency.
